PCLP Wednesday Speaker Series

Please join PCLP in welcoming Tucson City Court Judges Ryan Bleau and Lisa Surhio. Judge Bleau oversees the homeless court at the City of Tucson Courthouse. Judge Surhio oversees the mental health court at the City of Tucson Courthouse. They will be discussing how their respective courts differ from regular court rooms, what individuals qualify to have their cases transferred to these specialty courts, and the overall goals of these specialty courts. The Honorable Ryan Bleau was appointed to the Tucson City Court bench in February 2022. He currently presides over the City of Tucson Homeless Court. Judge Bleau joined the City Court bench after more than 16 years in practice. His criminal defense practice included work with the City of Tucson Public Defender's Office and private criminal defense law firms. The Honorable Lisa M. Surhio was appointed to the Tucson City Court bench in March 2021. She currently presides over the City’s Mental Health Court and Pima County’s Consolidated Misdemeanor Problem Solving (CMPS) Court. Before taking the bench, she worked in the Pima County Public Defender’s Office for seven years, the Pinal County Public Defender’s Office for eight years, and the Tohono O’Odham Nation Office of the Prosecutor for one year.
