Joanna A Medrano graduated in 2005 from Long Island University-Brooklyn with a BA in Journalism and a minor focus on the Spanish Language. She then attended Brooklyn Law School graduating in 2008. While at Brooklyn Law, she spent time volunteering and interning with a number of local government and non-profit agencies. She continued working the nonprofit sector focusing on Landlord & Tenant work to ensure affordable and safe NYC housing. As an attorney and legal director, she represented hundreds of tenants in housing court and other proceedings. She came to the University of Arizona in 2015 as the Director of the Mortgage & Consumer Finance Group where she continued to work on housing issues and assist homeowners with foreclosure prevention and bankruptcy. She worked with recently graduated Fellows teaching them the practical side of law and how to interact clients in a law office. Her continued desire to work with students and enhance legal education led her to the Interim Director position of the Undergraduate of Law and Masters of Legal Studies Programs.
