Biographical Information

Mr. Morrison, a retired senior partner of Altheimer & Gray, Chicago, IL, is an honors graduate of Trinity College (Conn.). Following military service and graduation from the University of Chicago Law School (JD 1960) he commenced his professional career as a trial attorney and counselor specializing in insurance and reinsurance.  In his over 40 years of practice, and counseling Mr. Morrison has provided advisory and litigation services as the general outside counsel for the primary insurer of major national property, casualty, business and professional liability programs. He also represented various domestic and foreign excess insurers and reinsurers on major programs in the same classes of business. Mr. Morrison also represented professional liability insurers for architects involved in major hotel disasters and insurers of other profesisonals, including accountants, attorneys, and realtors.

In addition, Mr. Morrison serviced the insurance industry and corporate community in risk identification, development and drafting of policy wording and negotiations for property, liability, professional liability and directors and officers risks, and reinsurance. For many years he served as counsel to public companies and drafted terms and conditions for corporate and franchisee risks which were taken to and accepted by the market. He advised on the development of joint venture programs in the evolving insurance and reinsurance markets in Central Europe; provided counseling, litigation, trial, and appellate representation in mass tort cases; and served an an expert witness on insurance matters. He has received professional recognition in various forms, including being the first foreigner invited to participate in an Advanced Study Group of the Insurance Institute of London.
