Alum to Speak on British and American Commercial Litigation

John M. DeStefano III ('07) will speak on Divided by a Common Law: A Comparative Perspective on British and American Commercial Litigation, Friday, Nov. 9, 10:30 a.m. - Noon, Ares Auditorium. The program, sponsored by the College of Law’s Business Law Program and Business Law Society will focus on organization of the legal profession and litigation in the U.K., with particular emphasis on the roles of solicitors and barristers, litigation strategy in a fee-shifting regime, important differences in commercial and contract law of the U.S. and the U.K., and lessons for the U.S. legal system and its litigators. In 2012, Mr DeStefano was one of only two Pegasus Scholars selected annually by the American Inns of Court to visit the U.K. and learn about the British legal systems.
