Innovation for Justice (i4J) and University of Arizona James E. Rogers College of Law have established the Changemaker Award to recognize a public or private law firm, non-profit, or government organization that is actively engaged in improving access to justice through innovative approaches to legal service delivery, justice sector technologies, or policy-level change.

The Changemaker Award was made possible through a generous contribution from Stephen Golden (’02), alumnus of the University of Arizona College of Law.

Eligibility

Public or private law firms, non-profit law firms, or organizations with an active campaign targeting civil justice needs within a community. Projects should include engagement with lived experience experts within the community. Self nominations will be accepted.

Criteria

The criteria include, but are not limited to, the following:

1. Impact: The extent to which the individual, organization, or project has promoted justice and positive change in their community.
2. Innovation: The level of creativity, originality, and uniqueness demonstrated in the solution or approach taken to address the justice gap.
3. Sustainability: The potential for the solution or approach to have a lasting impact and continue to deliver justice and positive change in the future.
4. Collaboration: The extent to which the individual, organization, or project has worked with and engaged the community to promote justice.
5. Scalability: The potential for the solution or approach to be replicated and scaled to other communities and contexts.
6. Empowerment: The extent to which the individual, organization, or project has empowered others to promote justice and positive change in their communities.
7. Representation: The extent to which the individual, organization, or project has considered and addressed the diverse needs and perspectives of the community they are serving.
8. Impact Metrics: The ability to measure and quantify the impact and effectiveness of the solution or approach in promoting justice and positive change.

Award Committee

Nominations will be judged by a committee made up of members of the i4J team as well as i4J co-creators from the public and private sector.
