Karen M. Kowalski

Associate Dean for Administration & Chief of Staff

Karen M. Kowalski is the Associate Dean for Administration & Chief of Staff at the James E. Rogers College of Law. Karen represents the interests and priorities of the Law College through effective communication, coordination, and strategic integration.  Karen supports the Dean of the Law College and serves as the Dean's designee with respect to a wide range of confidential, complex, and sensitive matters.

Karen has oversight responsibilities in the College's areas of finance, HR, grants, IT, online learning, facilities/operations, events, marketing and communications, admissions and financial aid, career services, student externships, compliance, accreditation, and strategic planning. 

Karen was previously a fellow in the University of Arizona's Academic Leadership Institute (2019-2020).

Before joining the College, Dean Kowalski practiced tax law as a partner at the international law firm of Winston & Strawn in Chicago and served as managing director at Major, Lindsey & Africa, the leading global legal search firm. She holds an LLM in taxation from Georgetown University Law Center and a JD from DePaul University College of Law.
