National Transportation Safety Board Accident Investigations explained by former NTSB Assistant General Counsel and Alum, Jamie Rodriguez: Jamie Rodriguez is a 2005 graduate of UA Law and a Senior Counsel at Holland & Knight’s Washington DC office, where she advises on transportation accident investigations and regulations. She previously spent six years as an Assistant General Counsel at the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) and launched to support major accident investigations in all modes of transportation. Among other investigations, she was lead agency counsel supporting the NTSB investigations of the SpaceShipTwo commercial spacecraft accident, the crash of Asiana Airlines Flight 214, the battery fire on a Japan Airlines Boeing 787, a pipeline explosion in Sissonville, W.Va., the bridge collapse over the Skagit River in northwestern Washington, the Amtrak train derailment in Philadelphia, and the sinking of the El Faro cargo ship. Jamie will provide an overview of NTSB legal authorities and practices, discuss some of the major transportation issues she has encountered, and address the roles of an investigations and regulatory counsel in a firm and at an agency.
