The Equal Justice Initiative is a non-profit law office committed to ending mass incarceration and excessive punishment in the United States, to challenging racial and economic injustice, and to protecting basic human rights for the most vulnerable people in American society. Many people may know EJI from reading the book "Just Mercy" by its founder Bryan Stevenson. In this talk, Ashley Adams, Staff Attorney at EJI, will take attendees through the history of racial injustice and how it relates to criminal justice reform. The audience will be invited to take a deep dive into EJI's criminal justice reform work with an emphasis on efforts to combat putting children in adult prison.
