In July 2020, the U.S. Supreme Court issued a landmark opinion in McGirt v. Oklahoma, holding that a significant portion of Oklahoma is tribal land and crimes committed on such land are subject to federal, not state, jurisdiction under the Major Crimes Act (MCA).
