Conversations Speaker Series with Anne Gates

Bob Mundheim will welcome Anne Gates as the first guest in the Conversation Speaker Series for this year. About Anne Gates In 2017, Anne Gates retired as president of MGA Entertainment, the largest privately held global toy company in the United States. Prior to that she spent more than twenty years at the Walt Disney Company, in various roles including Executive Vice President and CFO of the Consumer Products Division, based in Los Angeles, and Managing Director for Consumer Products Europe and Emerging Markets, based in London. In 2010, Anne Gates was named to the Power List of Britain’s 100 most influential Black people. Currently, Anne Gates is an active board director, spanning diverse industries. She is currently Chair of the Audit Committees at Kroger, Tapestry, Inc. and Cynosure. She also serves on the Raymond James Financial Board. In the Fall of 2021, Anne was named to the NACD Directorship 100. It is comprised of 50 public company directors and 50 governance professionals who exemplify knowledge, leadership, and excellence and who play a significant role in shaping the greater boardroom agenda. Anne Gates is personally committed to the not-for-profit sector, focusing on improving education, equity, inclusion, and effective nonprofit financial stewardship. She engages with multiple nonprofit boards aligned with these goals. About Bob Mundheim Robert (Bob) Mundheim is Professor of Corporate Law & Finance at the James E. Rogers College of Law. He previously served as Dean and University Professor of Law and Finance at the University of Pennsylvania Law School; General Counsel at the U.S. Treasury Department; Special Counsel to the Securities and Exchange Commission; and Executive Vice President and General Counsel for Salomon Inc. He is a founding Trustee of the American College of Governance Counsel and is a Director of Gogo, Inc. Professor Mundheim chaired the American Bar Association’s Standing Committee on Ethics and Professional Responsibility, and served on the Council of the American Law Institute for nearly 30 years. He serves as an Adviser to the Restatement of the Law of Corporate Governance. He is Of Counsel to the firm of Shearman & Sterling LLP.
