Please join PCLP, the Law Women's Association (LWA), and the Business Law Society (BLS) in welcoming Ms. Monica Klapper. Ms. Klapper received her law degree in 1991 from Arizona State University. She started her career with the Attorney General's Office in 1992 and practiced law in the private sector from 1995-1999 before returning to the Attorney General's criminal division. Ms. Klapper is currently serving as an Assistant United States Attorney for the District Attorney. Specifically, she works in the Financial Crimes Section where she prosecutes white-collar crime. She will speak about her day-to-day responsibilities as an Assistant United States Attorney. She will also talk about some of the unique challenges that are entailed in prosecuting white-collar crime. White-collar offenders typically possess greater resources, both legally and financially, than perpetrators of other crimes. Ms. Klapper will speak about some of the obstacles that this creates, specifically, how it changes the dynamic between the prosecutor and defense counsel.
