The Immigration Law Students' Association and the Bacon Immigration Law & Policy Speaker Series are hosting a panel on the impacts of climate change and environmental injustices on Central American Indigenous peoples. The event will feature Juanita Cabrera Lopez (Maya Mam Nation), International Mayan League executive director, and Blake Gentry (Cherokee Nation), who has written about migration, migrant rights, and Indigenous language rights. The speakers will discuss the root environmental causes displacing Central American Indigenous communities, and the legal obstacles that Indigenous migrants face in the immigration system. The Native American Law Student Association and Environmental Law Society are co-hosting the event.
