First Circuit Program
The First Circuit Program at the University of Arizona James E. Rogers College of Law celebrates and supports first-generation law students pursuing legal education. First-generation students are those from families where neither parent completed a four-year college degree, bringing distinctive perspectives and fresh insights to the legal profession while pioneering new educational pathways for their families.
This innovative support program maximizes opportunities for academic and professional success while building community among students who share this trailblazing background.
Program Components
The First Circuit Program combines strategic programming, mentorship networks, and peer support to help participants thrive in law school. Students connect with both internal mentors and alumni professionals while participating in targeted workshops focused on academic excellence and career development. Programming includes exclusive opportunities to meet with judges and explore courthouse operations, panels with senior attorneys who share their professional wisdom and insights, and specialized training on effective networking strategies for legal careers.

Community and Impact
Through carefully designed programming and social engagement opportunities, the First Circuit Program builds lasting professional networks and creates a supportive community within the College of Law. The program emphasizes sustainable participation that complements rigorous academic demands.
Leadership Development
The program cultivates future leaders by encouraging experienced participants to mentor incoming students, establishing a foundation of peer support that strengthens the broader law school community and demonstrates the College's commitment to student success.
