Gogo Inc. Board of Directors, Former Delaware Supreme Court Justice Among 2018 Conversations with Bob Mundheim Guests
The University of Arizona James E. Rogers College of Law’s popular annual series Conversations with Bob Mundheim kicks off Feb. 19 with a special panel discussion with the Gogo, Inc. board of directors.
Professor Bob Mundheim moderates informal conversations with national leaders in business and law, relating their experiences in and perspectives about corporate governance, markets, ethics and career development.
This series is free and open to members of the UA community, and will be of particular interest to law and business students.
All sessions take place noon-1:15 p.m. at the College of Law, Room 237 (Faculty Lounge). Lunch is provided, and seating is limited.

Ron LeMay, Oakleigh Thorne and Michele Coleman Mayes: Gogo Inc. Board of Directors
Ron LeMay
Ron LeMay is chairman of the Board of Directors of Gogo, Inc. He serves as managing director for Open Air Equity Partners. Its portfolio companies include Gogo Inflight, Main Street Data, and Hyla mobile. LeMay has founded or cofounded eight companies in the last 10 years and was formerly president/COO of Sprint Corporation for almost 20 years and CEO of Sprint PCS. LeMay is a lawyer who practiced for 10 years in private practice and as corporate counsel.
Oakleigh Thorne
Oakleigh Thorne founded and serves as CEO of Thorndale Farm, Inc., which oversees the Thorne family investment portfolio, including investments in Gogo, Inc. and Helix Education Inc., as well as other investments. He is a member of the Board of Directors of Gogo, Inc.
Prior to founding Thorndale Farm in 1996, he served as CEO of Commerce Clearing House, Inc. Thorne led the sale of CCH for $1.9 billion to Wolters Kluwer in 1996. Thorne also served as Chairman and CEO of eCollege.com (2000–07).
Michele Coleman Mayes
A member of the Board of Directors of Gogo, Inc., Michele Coleman Mayes is vice president, general counsel, and secretary for the New York Public Library. Previously, she served as executive vice president and general counsel for Allstate Insurance Company, as a senior vice president and general counsel of Pitney Bowes Inc. (2003–07), and in several legal capacities at Colgate-Palmolive (1992–2003). She currently chairs the American Bar Association’s Commission on Women in the Profession.

Jack Jacobs, Former Justice of the Delaware Supreme Court (2003-14)
Jack Jacobs has more than 45 years of legal experience, most notably serving on the Delaware Supreme Court from 2003 to 2014, and as vice chancellor of the Delaware Court of Chancery since 1985. Before his appointment as vice chancellor, he practiced corporate and business litigation in Wilmington since 1968. Former Justice Jacobs is currently an adjunct professor of law at the law schools of New York University, Columbia University, Vanderbilt University and the University of Pennsylvania. His practice includes advising companies and boards of directors on Delaware law issues, including fiduciary duties and with respect to mergers and acquisitions.

Simon M. Lorne, Vice Chairman and Chief Legal Officer at Millennium Management, LLC
Simon Lorne serves as the vice chairman and chief legal officer at Millennium Management, LLC, overseeing its compliance, legal, regulatory, and internal audit functions. Previously, Lorne served as a partner at Munger, Tolles & Olson. In 1996, he became a managing director at Salomon Brothers, where he served as global head of Internal Audit. From 1993 to 1996, Lorne was the general counsel at the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. He is an independent director of Teledyne Technologies Inc., and co-chairs the Stanford Directors’ College.

Emily Glazer, Banking Reporter for The Wall Street Journal
Emily Glazer is a banking reporter for The Wall Street Journal focusing on two of the largest U.S. banks: J.P. Morgan Chase and Wells Fargo. She covers all aspects of banking, from the sales practices problems within Wells Fargo’s retail bank to terrorist financing. This spring, Glazer was named a Rising Star by the News Media Alliance and received the New York Press Club’s award for consumer reporting. Over the past nine years reporting for The Wall Street Journal or sister publications, Glazer has covered global bankruptcy and restructuring, consumer products companies like Procter & Gamble, personal finance and startups.

James H. Cheek, III, Senior Member of Bass, Berry & Sims PLC
James H. Cheek, III is a senior member of the law firm of Bass, Berry & Sims PLC in Nashville, Tennessee. He graduated from Duke University and Vanderbilt Law School and received an LLM degree from Harvard University. Cheek has served as chair of the ABA Section of Business Law and as chair of the National Task Force on Corporate Responsibility. He also has served as chair of the New York Stock Exchange Legal Advisory Committee and the Legal Advisory Board to the National Association of Securities Dealers. Additionally, he has served for a number of years as a member of the ABA Corporate Laws Committee, which reviews and revises the Model Business Corporation Act. He is a past chair of the Securities Regulation Institute (San Diego) and was professor of the practice of law at Vanderbilt Law School from 2012 to 2017.

John Cannon is a senior member of the Executive Compensation & Employee Benefits Group and co-chair of Shearman & Sterling’s Corporate Governance Advisory Group. In his practice, he focuses on all aspects of compensation and benefits, including ERISA and corporate, securities, bankruptcy, employment, and tax laws. He has extensive experience in executive compensation and corporate governance matters, Dodd-Frank and Sarbanes-Oxley, and the compensation issues raised in the mergers and acquisitions context. Cannon joined Shearman & Sterling in 1985 and became a partner in 1994.
