Gammage & Burnham Makes Two Contributions at UArizona Law, to Support A New Day in Court and Establish Endowed Scholarship
Arizona law firm Gammage & Burnham and members of the firm have made contributions to the University of Arizona James E. Rogers College of Law in support of the “A New Day in Court” initiative, as well as the creation of a new endowed scholarship, providing financial assistance to students pursuing their legal education.
The first gift of $50,000, supports A New Day In Court, the college’s largest capital project in over a decade, which will update University of Arizona Law’s current courtrooms that were originally built in the late 1970s, creating fully functional, state-of-the-art spaces that give students proper courtroom settings in which to learn and practice. The college’s advocacy program will also be renamed the Thomas Mauet Advocacy Program, in honor of Arizona Law Professor Emeritus and renowned trial expert Thomas Mauet.
When construction is completed, speakers will present from the Gammage & Burnham podium, an upgraded space in one of the college’s two new courtrooms.
Groundbreaking for the project is set to begin on January 2, 2024.
The second gift from Gammage & Burnham and its members establishes the Gammage & Burnham Endowed Scholarship. This fund
provides financial aid to deserving JD students at the College of Law alleviating the financial burden associated with pursuing a legal education.
The inaugural scholarship recipient, awarded to full-time JD students with an interest in practicing law in Arizona after graduation, is first-year law student Zalen Isaacson.
“I am greatly honored to be the recipient of the Gammage & Burnham scholarship,” said Isaacson. “I grew up in Tucson, and I have always wanted to build my career in Arizona. Receiving this scholarship from a law firm with such strong roots in the state has given me a great start.”
Isaacson’s current goal while in law school is to get exposure to as many different types of law as possible, so he can best decide on a practice area. He is particularly interested in taking classes on commercial and corporate law.
“I look forward to connecting with attorneys from Gammage & Burnham and learning more about their diverse areas of practice,” added Isaacson.
