Aisha M. Jones

Part-time Professor of Law

Professor Aisha M. Jones, J.D., holds a Bachelor of Arts degree (B.A.) in Political Science and minor in Social Work from Dillard University, and a Juris Doctor degree from Fordham University School of Law. Professor Jones started her career as a Staff Attorney with the Cook County Public Guardians Office, and served as the lawyer and guardian ad litem for any child found to be abused, neglected, and/or dependent in Cook County, IL.

During her tenure there, she mediated and negotiated cases with the various parties (parents, minors, caseworkers, family members, etc.) to determine which services and actions would get to case/issue resolution in the best interest of the child. Currently, Professor Jones is a Staff Attorney with the General Counsel Office for the Department of Veterans Affairs, where she litigates appeals of disciplinary actions whether through a union grievance arbitration or Merit System Protection Board appeals. In addition, she litigates Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) complaints on behalf of the Agency. In this position she utilizes the federal dispute resolution processes and position-based negotiation.
