The Prosecutorial Ethics in Real Life series is part of an ongoing effort at Arizona Law to create a national forum for discussion of critical and timely ethical issues in criminal prosecution.
Geoffrey S. Berman is a litigation partner and head of Fried Frank's White Collar Defense, Regulatory Enforcement & Investigations Practice, resident in the New York Office. Mr. Berman also serves on the Firm's Governance Committee. His practice focuses on representing clients in connection with a wide range of white-collar matters, regulatory and internal investigations, and complex commercial litigation.
Prior to joining Fried Frank, Mr. Berman served as the United States Attorney for the Southern District of New York, where he oversaw the investigation and litigation of all criminal and civil cases brought on behalf of the United States in the Southern District of New York. He supervised an office of about 230 Assistant US Attorneys, who handle a high volume of some of the nation's most important cases, including domestic and international terrorism, international sanctions violations, national security threats, white collar crime, healthcare fraud, securities and commodities fraud, public corruption, cybercrime, money laundering, sex trafficking, narcotics and arms trafficking, gang violence, organized crime, and civil rights violations.
Mr. Berman is a visiting professor at Stanford Law School and a visiting fellow at the Stanford Rock Center for Corporate Governance. He received his JD from Stanford Law School in 1984, where he was note editor of the Stanford Law Review. This event will be streamed for remote viewing.
