LawCat Community Supports University of Arizona Law Priorities During Giving Day 2024

University of Arizona Law felt the love from the LawCat community during this year’s Giving Day, a 24-hour fundraising effort in support of students and the university. Thanks to the generosity of over 64 donors, which included alumni, faculty, staff, students and friends, the College raised $54,263 to support A New Day in Court, forever funds in honor of Dean Emerita Toni Massaro for the Justice Advocates Coalition Summer Public Interest Fellowship Program, the Dean’s Innovation Fund and Student Scholarships. 

Across campus, the University of Arizona received more than 1,900 gifts during Giving Day, totaling more than $5.7 million towards students, scholarships, and programs. 

“We are immensely grateful to all who generously contributed to University of Arizona Law during Giving Day,” said Dean Marc Miller. “Each donation signifies a vote of confidence in our vision and our students' potential to lead and innovate in an ever-evolving legal landscape. Thank you for your unwavering support.” 

Thanks to the generosity and leadership from Brad Vynalek (’99), Jonelle Vold (‘01), Megan O’Leary (BA ‘02), Vicki Fleischer and a generous LawCat from the class of 1998 for making challenge gifts to encourage giving to University of Arizona Law priorities. 

A New Day in Court will fund the construction of two new state-of-the-art student courtrooms, an expansion of faculty support, and new experiential learning opportunities to enhance the student experience. The Justice Advocates Coalition Summer Public Interest Fellowship Program empowers students pursuing careers in public interest law by providing stipends to students who accept unpaid summer positions with nonprofit organizations. The Dean’s Innovation Fund allows the Dean to fund University of Arizona Law’s most pressing projects such as our push to accept the GRE and JD-Next and to create new educational pathways for underrepresented communities. Lastly, Giving Day supported student scholarships that remove financial barriers and allow students to pursue the dream of a legal career. 

This year’s Giving Day contributions will go towards the University of Arizona’s Fuel Wonder fundraising campaign with the overall goal of raising $3 billion for the students, faculty, and programs that make up the university ecosystem. As part of the campaign, the James E. Rogers College of Law has established its own goals to launch new projects, provide students with unprecedented levels of support, and amplify programs that make a meaningful impact in our communities.
