More Than a Century of Firsts
University of Arizona Law creates what's next in legal education
First Law School in Arizona
We have more than 100 years of success in educating lawyers and leaders. You'll see the imprint of University of Arizona Law throughout the legal landscape of Arizona.
First in U.S. to Offer BA in Law
No school has created more avenues to a legal career than University of Arizona Law. We were the first in the country to create an undergraduate law degree that teaches core law subjects, critical thinking and communication skills to students who want to attend law school or pursue a law-related career. The degree now enrolls more than 1,600 students.
First Law School in U.S. to Accept the GRE
Our 2016 decision to accept the GRE as a law school admissions test transformed legal education. Harvard was the first to follow our lead, with dozens more joining in the years after. In November 2021, the ABA voted to allow all law schools to accept the GRE, meaning a wider pool of diverse and qualified candidates now have access to law school.
First in Arizona for Scholarly Impact
Our faculty are among the most cited in the country. The college has been ranked 10th in the nation among public law schools, 27th overall, and 1st in Arizona for scholarly impact, the measure of professors' research contributions.
