Glennon Receives Inaugural Ewalt Environmental Prize
University of Arizona Law professor Robert Glennon was awarded Allegheny College’s inaugural Ewalt Environmental Prize for his research exploring solutions to worsening water shortages, especially in the western United States. He was selected as the first recipient of the award by the Environmental Science and Sustainability department at Allegheny.
The Ewalt Prize was established through the support of Henry Ewalt, a 1962 Allegheny graduate, and his wife, Mary, and was made to bring professionals to campus to teach about their expertise in environmental issues, especially those relating to freshwater supplies.
Glennon was presented with the award following his lecture, “Our Thirst for Energy in a Warming, Water-Stressed World,” at the Meadville Pennsylvania college campus.
Glennon, one of the nation's preeminent experts on water policy and law, is the recipient of two National Science Foundation grants. He serves as an advisor to governments, corporations, think tanks, law firms, and NGOs looking to solve serious challenges around water sustainability and planning. He is author of Unquenchable: America's Water Crisis and What To Do About It, which has become a go-to resource for environmental policy stakeholders nationwide.
