U.S. Attorney Justin Oshana, Lead Army Prosecutor in United States v. Bergdahl, is Inaugural Speaker for Prosecutorial Ethics in Real Life Lecture Series
The University of Arizona James E. Rogers College of Law’s Prosecutorial Ethics in Real Life lecture series welcomes its inaugural speaker, Assistant U.S. Attorney Justin Oshana on Sept. 15, 2021.
Oshana is best known as the lead Army prosecutor in United States v. Bergdahl, the case against Army Sgt. Bowe Bergdal. Bergdahl pleaded guilty in 2017 to desertion and misbehavior before the enemy after leaving his post in Afghanistan in June 2009 and setting off a massive search-and-rescue operation that involved thousands of U.S. troops.
Oshana will discuss the moral principles and dilemmas faced by prosecutors with a question-and-answer portion directly following.

About Justin Oshana
Justin Oshana was the lead Army prosecutor in United States v. Bergdahl, the court-martial of Private Bowe Bergdahl for desertion and misbehavior before the enemy. He also was a defense attorney in United States v. Hasan, the capital court-martial of Major Nidal Hasan for the 2009 Fort Hood shootings. Oshana is currently an Assistant United States Attorney in Philadelphia and a Major in the Army Reserves.
