Our Services

Clinic students under the supervision of the Clinic Director provide confidential legal representation, as well as general information and support, in the following areas:

  • Representation at K-12 discipline hearings.  Our clinic represents students facing long-term suspensions or expulsions from Tucson-area schools. The clinic provides representation at the hearing and in negotiations with school officials regarding discipline.
  • Appeals of school discipline decisions. The clinic also represents students in administrative appeals relating to school discipline decisions, including representation in manifestation determination review for children with disabilities who are suspended.
  • Negotiation over special education services. The clinic provides representation and general assistance to children seeking an evaluation for eligibility in special education services, as well as appropriate education programming. Clinic students attend school-based meetings with clients and their families and seek to enforce the education rights of clients with disabilities.
  • Pursing complaints with the U.S. Department of Education, Office for Civil Rights. The clinic provides representation and other support to K-12 students pursuing administrative complaints with the U.S. Department of Education, Office for Civil Rights, for allegations of discrimination in Tucson-area public and charter schools.
  • Community Outreach. The clinic actively participates in Pima County community groups to address policy concerns related to children in Tucson schools.
