COVID-19 Update: Employee Vaccination Requirement, Booster and Vaccine Availability, Keep Testing

Oct. 15, 2021

Dear Law Students, Faculty and Staff,

I hope you’ve been enjoying this perfect fall weather! Here is the latest university COVID-19 information.

Employee Vaccination Requirement Announced

In today’s email from President Robbins to all employees, it was announced that all University employees, which includes student workers and graduate assistants/associates, must upload vaccine documentation by December 8, 2021 showing they are fully vaccinated, unless they have been granted a religious or disability accommodation. Visit the HR FAQ page to learn more or to request an accommodation.

Pfizer Booster Now Available

Campus Health is offering free COVID-19 vaccine booster shots to benefits-eligible employees, designated campus colleagues and students who completed their 2nd Pfizer dose at least 6 months ago and are one of the following:

  • 65 years and older
  • Age 18+ who live in long-term care settings
  • Age 18+ who have underlying medical conditions
  • Age 18+ who work in high-risk settings
  • Age 18+ who live in high-risk settings

Campus Health also continues to offer free first and second doses of Pfizer and Moderna. As we have more information on the Moderna booster, which just got FDA approval, we will share it.

Visit the Campus Health Vaccine page for full details on eligibility and to make a booster or vaccine appointment.

Take Advantage of TakeAway Testing

Thank you to everyone who is using the TakeAway Testing kits available in our lobby.

In order for the university to continue offering this wonderful resource to the college, we need to use it frequently. Remember, we’re asking everyone on campus to test once a week and any time you may have been exposed. If each of us commits to that routine, we will continue to have access to this convenient and easy option AND we’ll be protecting our community.

As of October 18, the NorthRec testing location will be transitioning to a TakeAway Testing site only. On-site testing will continue at the Student Union (both rapid antigen nasal swab testing and PCR saliva testing.)

Visit the TakeAway Testing web page to learn about how it works, or just pick up a test kit from the lobby and scan the QR code on the bag to get started.

I continue to find many sources of information on COVID useful -- including the daily UA dashboard (0.1% positive on 10/13 -- 1 of 775 tests), and Professor Joe Gerald’s report, linked below.

The UC San Francisco Department of Medicine has done several fascinating sessions recently. UCSF has set up a YouTube channel where you can find all of the sessions.

It’s hard to believe we’re already in the second half of the fall semester. Thanks to each of you for helping us finish the first half strong and healthy.

Bear Down, Mask Up, Vax Up, and Test Often (weekly)!
