This is an introductory course on constitutional law. Broadly speaking, constitutional law is concerned with the organization of government and the relationship between the government and its citizens. No one course can cover the full universe of topics that fall under this heading. Instead, the aim of this course is to introduce and cover the basic and pervasive questions, most notably (1) how the branches of the federal government relate to one another (and to the American people); (2) how the federal government’s power relates to that of state governments; and (3) the limits of federal and state government power to infringe on the rights of private individuals.
