Undergraduate Pathways
We believe in expanding access to legal education and equipping students with real-world skills. our programs are intentionally designed to support the many ways legal knowledge can empower meaningful careers, communities, and futures.
Whether you’re preparing for a new legal profession, strengthening your skill set for another field, or exploring the justice system in depth, Arizona Law offers a variety of undergraduate pathways to help you get there:
Bachelor of Arts in Law
Our first-of-its-kind BA in Law offers rigorous academic training from law school faculty in foundational areas like property, contracts, torts, and administrative law. More than theory, you’ll develop practical legal skills—critical thinking, problem-solving, and persuasive writing—that open doors across a wide range of careers. For qualified students, this degree can also accelerate your path to the JD through our 3+3 BA/JD program, or even lead into an Accelerated Master of Legal Studies (MLS).
Bachelor of Science in Science Law
The BS in Science Law prepares students to address the legal, ethical, and regulatory challenges arising from scientific innovation and emerging technology. Through coursework spanning biology, chemistry, physics, and upper-division law and science electives, students develop interdisciplinary expertise for careers that don’t require a JD.
Bachelor of Science in Medical Device Development and Application: Regulatory-Law-Government Emphasis
The MDDA is a groundbreaking four-year undergraduate major designed as a collaboration among clinicians, basic scientists, engineers, business professionals and law professionals.
Undergraduate Law Minor
Designed for students majoring in other disciplines, the Law Minor introduces core legal reasoning and real law courses in a flexible, 18-unit format. You’ll learn how to make sound arguments, interpret legal structures, and recognize the regulatory frameworks that shape your field—skills that add value to virtually any career.
Undergraduate Certificates
We offer two certificates at the undergraduate level.
Undergraduate Certificate in Health Law & Policy
Expand on your degree with a Health Law and Policy Certificate—open to students from any University of Arizona major or discipline, with no additional charge or application needed.
Undergraduate Certificate for Tribal Courts and Justice Administration
This program prepares you for a wide range of tribal-justice related careers and teaches you the foundations of tribal law and policy.
Legal Paraprofessional
Arizona has introduced a new Legal Paraprofessional (LP) license, and Arizona Law is at the forefront, offering the approved education pathways you need to prepare for LP licensure. Whether through the BA in Law (by choosing LP-specific coursework or the LP certificate) or via an accelerated MLS concentration, you’ll be ready to represent clients, give legal advice in approved practice areas, and advocate in court under a limited-scope license.
Why Arizona Law?
- Access & Innovation: We were the first university in the nation to offer a BA in Law and a BS in Science Law tailored for non-JD careers—and one that feeds directly into new legal roles like the LP.
- Real-World Impact: Whether through simulations, internships, or coursework, our programs help close the justice gap by preparing students for practical, high-impact work.
- Flexible Career Paths: Our pathways support diverse ambitions—becoming a licensed LP, launching a law-adjacent career, or accelerating into a JD or MLS.
