PCLP Speaker Series: "Policing & Democratic Accountability"

When

Room: VMS VMS1
Time: 12:00 PM - 1:15 PM

Calls for greater accountability around policing have long persisted and only grown louder in recent months. But "accountability" can take many forms. This conversation will focus on the Policing Project's work to promote democratic accountability in policing and how this form of accountability relates to recent instances of police violence, calls for "defunding," and new policing technologies. Farhang Heydari, the Executive Director of the Policing Project at the NYU School of Law, will lead the discussion followed by a Q&A. Mr. Heydari joined the Policing Project after representing victims of official misconduct at the law firm Neufeld, Scheck, and Brustin, LLP. The Policing Project's mission is to work with communities and police across the country to promote public safety through transparency, equity, and democratic engagement.
