Mark Casciari

Part-time Professor of Practice

Mark Casciari, now retired, was a Seyfarth Shaw LLP Partner for 32 years. His entire legal career was spent in the Firm's Labor and Employment Department, and its Employee Benefits/ERISA Litigation Practice Group.  He has represented employers, fiduciaries and benefit plans in federal courts throughout the United States, including as lead class action defense counsel, and in state courts and before agencies, arbitrators and mediators.  He is an experienced trial lawyer and has extensive deposition experience.  He has been amicus curiae counsel of record in two United States Supreme Court cases and counsel in another. He has also served as a member of the bars of the U.S. Supreme Court, nine Courts of Appeal and 10 District Courts, including the Northern District of Illinois Trial Bar, and the Supreme Courts of Illinois and Arizona.  Mark has written many articles, was a long-standing Adjunct Professor of Trial Advocacy at Northwestern University School of Law and is a Fellow in the College of Labor and Employment Lawyers and the American College of Employee Benefits Counsel.
