Cole White

Part-time Professor of Practice and Practicing Attorney

Cole is Associate Counsel for the Attorney General Alliance and head of AGA's Cannabis Project, where he spearheads initiatives to increase collaboration and information sharing between state offices on high-priority issues for state attorneys general related to cannabis and hemp. In addition to his role overseeing AGA's partnership with the University of Arizona College of Law, this also includes serving as Editor of AGA's Cannabis Law Deskbook, where he is responsible for updating the Deskbook's content to reflect developments in cannabis law across all states and territories and providing guidance to those engaged in this arena of law and policy.

Cole has a decade of experience working in the attorney general community, having started his career as an assistant attorney general in the Office of the Wyoming Attorney General. While working for the Wyoming Attorney General's office, Cole primarily drafted, reviewed and negotiated contract terms and conditions on behalf of state agencies, analyzed legislative bills, and served as advising attorney to the state ombudsman. He then spent several years as an Associate with Troutman Pepper Locke, where he worked with companies across a variety of industries, including cannabis businesses, focusing primarily on regulatory compliance matters. His experience includes liaising between attorneys general offices and diverse stakeholders, including state, local, and federal law enforcement and regulatory agencies, private sector, advocacy groups, and think-tanks to study cutting-edge issues in cannabis law and policy.
