Ginger Hunt

Ginger Hunt, M.E.T., is the inaugural Senior Director of Online Learning and Instructional Design at the University of Arizona James E. Rogers College of Law and the founder of Arizona Law Online. Since joining the College in 2016, Hunt has built Arizona Law Online from an emerging initiative into a comprehensive online learning and academic operations unit serving the College's degree programs, faculty, students, professional programs, and external partnerships.

Hunt provides strategic and operational leadership for the College's online learning ecosystem. Her portfolio extends well beyond instructional design and includes online program administration and strategy; curriculum and course development; learning technology and Brightspace administration; educational media and studio operations; accessibility and quality assurance; faculty development and support; student access, engagement, and retention; enrollment and registration processes; assessment; policy and compliance; communications; and cross-University educational technology initiatives.

Under Hunt's leadership, Arizona Law Online has grown into an academic infrastructure supporting online and technology-enhanced education across the JD, BA in Law, MLS, LLM, SJD, Mining Law, Health Law, Indigenous Peoples Law and Policy, Alternative Dispute Resolution, certificate, professional, community, and international programs, as well as initiatives including the Law of the Police ABA community program, the Foreign Diplomat Training Program and Innovation for Justice. From Fall 2016 through Summer 2026, Arizona Law Online supported more than 34,000 for-credit LAW course enrollments, with annual enrollment volume growing approximately 480 percent from 2017–18 to 2025–26. During 2025–26 alone, Hunt's team coordinated and supported more than 400 course and program deliveries and approximately 206 instructor assignments across six academic terms.

Hunt's leadership has been foundational to the expansion of online legal education at Arizona Law. She established the College's online infrastructure and developed the Arizona Law Online identity, recognized the opportunity to expand the BA in Law through fully online delivery, helped develop online curriculum across multiple graduate programs, supported international and professional education initiatives, and established the College's in-house educational media and video-production studios. Her work has created sustainable systems supporting the entire online student and course lifecycle—from program planning, course development and faculty preparation through enrollment, delivery, student support, assessment, continuous improvement, and course completion.

A recognized leader in online and technology-enhanced legal education, Hunt's work extends across the University and nationally. She has served as Coordinator of the Working Group for Distance Learning in Legal Education, Vice-Chair of UPCEA's Professional Development Online Administration Network, a proposal reviewer for EDUCAUSE and the Online Learning Consortium, and a contributor to the development of CALICon's distance-learning track. She has presented nationally on online legal education and instructional technology, including presentations at CALIcon and, most recently, the University of Denver Sturm College of Law Online & Hybrid Learning Pedagogy Conference. She also serves on the Southeastern Association of Law Schools (SEALS) Distance Education Committee and participated as a Power Volunteer for the Digital Teaching & Learning Conference. Her recent professional development includes completion of the UPCEA Digital Learning Academy for Administrators, focused on leadership and administration of online and professional education.

At the University of Arizona, Hunt has repeatedly contributed to institution-wide digital-learning initiatives. Before joining the College of Law, she was the inaugural instructional designer for the Office of Digital Learning, where she helped establish instructional design processes for the launch of Arizona Online, following service in the Office of Instruction and Assessment supporting faculty and colleges across campus. She later contributed her expertise to the University's 2024 learning-management-system RFP process and has worked extensively with InTech on Brightspace governance, testing and implementation of the New Content Experience, and College and University learning-technology improvements. In 2025–26, that leadership included preserving critical College of Law Brightspace functionality and coordinating NCE pilot testing, staff preparation, faculty support, and implementation.

Hunt is also committed to building professional communities around teaching, learning, and educational technology. She founded the University of Arizona's Instructional Design for Education in Action (IDEA) community and more recently established and chairs the Online Learning Administrators Network, a cross-college community connecting professionals responsible for online learning administration, strategy, and operations. She regularly participates in University communities of practice addressing instructional technology, artificial intelligence, accessibility, assessment, student success, and online pedagogy. Her recent work has included a semester-long faculty learning community on teaching students to use AI and ongoing participation in University AI and teaching-and-learning initiatives.

Hunt holds a Master of Educational Technology with honors from Boise State University, as well as graduate certificates in Online Teaching for Adult Learners and School Technology Coordination. She is a Quality Matters Certified Peer Reviewer, a Fellow of the University of Arizona Academic Leadership Institute, participant in the UPCEA Digital Learning Academy for Administrators, and a graduate of the EDUCAUSE Senior Directors Institute. She was the first educator in Arizona certified as a Digital Citizenship Educator by Common Sense Media. Her professional background spans more than three decades in education, teaching and learning, instructional technology, online education, faculty development, and academic administration.
