Bar Exam Eligibility
Not all states are the same. Review the eligibility requirements for the state’s bar exam. Many states limit bar exam eligibility to those individuals who have a U.S. JD degree; though some states allow LLM graduates to sit for the exam, the bar exam offices will have differing requirements, including specific coursework and residency requirements. Bar admission in all U.S. states involves consideration of a bar applicant's character and moral fitness for the practice of law. Bar Exam applicants should review the bar admission requirements of the states in which they ultimately intend to practice, not just the state whose exam they’ll sit for. The American Bar Association offers various resources on bar admission. Before enrolling in courses each semester, students should check with their academic advisor and review the eligibility requirements from the target state’s bar examiner’s office. Eligibility requirements for bar exams periodically change by state.
Curriculum
Course selection will vary depending on prior education and professional interests. The faculty advisor will work with each student to build a specific degree path. Students should view the current semester offerings in the College of Law Course Schedule.

All students who do not already possess a JD must take the following two courses regardless of concentration:
- Introduction to U.S. Legal Systems*
- Legal Research & Writing**
*Does not count toward the 24 credit hours
**May be waived for applicants who already possess a JD
